AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA will be launching the latest segment of its new and innovative program, Group Power, on Wednesday, April 25, with four free classes open to members and nonmembers.
The spring release will feature new music, new exercises and new programming, as the YMCA continues to develop the first nationally certified program in Maine and New Hampshire.
Group Power is a 60-minute barbell program that strengthens major muscles in a motivating group environment with music and nationally certified instructors. With simple, athletic movements such as squats, lunges, presses and curls, Group Power is for all ages and fitness levels.
“This program has created an incredible amount of participation among our members with lots of positive feedback,” said YMCA health and fitness director Doug McFarland. “One of the great things about Group Power is that every three months we will be launching a fresh and exciting new set of classes. This keeps all of our instructors and participants motivated and makes for an invigorating workout. Group Power is a challenging yet achievable program that is ideal for people of all ages and fitness levels.”
The YMCA will launching the spring program on April 25 with four free classes open to the public. Participants must register by Tuesday, April 24, by stopping by the YMCA or calling 795-4095. The class times will be 9 to 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 4 to 5:30 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The YMCA offers 11 one-hour Group Power classes each week along with more than 25 other exercise classes.
