JAY – Frank L. Mitchell Post 3335, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Auxiliary will conduct a ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the POW/MIA Remembrance Bridge Memorial located at the corner of Route 4 and Riley Road.

Michael Wadsworth, chairman of the Post 3335 POW/MIA Committee, will lead a ceremony in which a former Prisoner of War, Jerry Ianucci of Jay, will be honored.

An American flag, donated by Rep. Mike Michaud will be donated in honor of Ianucci’s service and sacrifice. Ianucci, a World War II aviator, will attend, along with his family.

National Former POW Recognition Day is April 9 of each year. However, the ceremony is typically held later in the month to allow for more favorable weather conditions. The public is invited.

Anyone wishing to donate a casket-size American flag may do so by contacting Wadsworth at 897-2073 or the post home at 897-5112.
