Democrats meet
RUMFORD – The Oxford County Democrats will meet on Thursday, May 10, at the Rumford Eagles Hall. Mountain Valley High School students, who spent their spring break working with Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans building homes, will give a presentation.
There will be a pizza supper starting at 5:30 p.m., with tickets priced at $3. The program will begin at 6 p.m. and is open to anyone interested in the presentation.
A business meeting will conclude the evening. Agenda items will include a report on the recent field trip to the State House, an update on Maine Democratic party meetings, legislative updates and reports from the presidential and state campaigns.
Friendship day
OTISFIELD – The Church Women United program for May Friendship Day, “Friends under God’s Wing,” will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 4, at Sweden Church, Route 93, across from the town hall. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome.
Benefit supper
OTISFIELD – The youth group of the Spurr’s Corner Church will host a Cinco De Mayo celebration benefit dinner at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the fire barn on Route 121.
There will be a suggested donation of $6 for adults and discounted rates for kids. All proceeds will go toward their upcoming life youth conference in Orlando, Fla., in July.
The menu will included Spanish rice, a taco bar, chilli, a Spanish dessert, hot dogs and chilli dogs. There will be special music and age-specific pinatas. For more information, call 627-4886 or Russ at 743-7164.
Basket bingo
LOCKE MILLS – There will be a Longaberger basket bingo Sunday, May 6, at the Locke Mills Legion Hall. The doors will open at 11 a.m. and bingo will begin at 1 p.m. Proceeds will benefit West Paris Agnes Gray Elementary School PTO.
Sunday services
STONEHAM – The Rev. George Frobig reminds parishioners of the Oxford County United Parish Churches in Stoneham and North Waterford that services will be held at 10 a.m. at the Stoneham Congregational Church (UCC), Main Street, Route 5, beginning Sunday, May 6.
Church school for students through grade four will be held on Tuesdays after school at the Stoneham town office/fire station. Those able to assist the pastor with church school are asked to contact the pastor at 693-6461.
Adults church school and choir practice will be held at 7 p.m. Mondays at the home of Marjorie Kimball, Sawin Hill Road, North Waterford. Contact Frobig for more information.
Nature club
OXFORD – The Twin Town Nature Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, May 7, at the Oxford Congregational Church for a potluck supper. Visitors are welcome.
