The Pittsburgh Steelers unveiled a new mascot last week to mark the franchise’s 75th anniversary. The yet-to-be-named mascot is a steelworker with a black hardhat in Steelers colors, black overalls, a gold long-sleeve shirt with black piping, a blond beard, black eyebrows and yellow pigmentation while carrying a steel beam made of Styrofoam. One look at the guy, though, and I find the urge to break into “Y-M-C-A.” irresistible.
Relevance is relative
The Detroit Lions made Ramzee Robinson the 255th and final selection of this year’s NFL draft, earning him the title of “Mr. Irrelevant.” Forgive the Lions for seeming a bit confused. That’s normally a distinction reserved for their first-round draft choices.
