LEWISTON – The U.S. Achievement Academy has announced that Janna Laverdiere of Lewiston has been named a national award winner in mathematics.
Laverdiere, who attends Lewiston high School, was nominated for the national award by Denis Mancine, a math teacher at the school. Laverdiere will appear in the U.S. Achievement Academy’s official yearbook.
The academy selects USAA winners upon the recommendation of teachers, coaches, counselors and other qualified sponsors and upon the standards of selection set forth by the academy. The criteria are a student’s academic attitude and cooperative spirit, dependability and recommendation from a qualified sponsor.
Laverdiere is the daughter of Marc and Margie Laverdiere of Lewiston and the granddaughter of Rudolphe and Carmel Laverdiere of Lewiston and Mr. and Mrs. Domigo Quare of Philippines.
