Friends to meet

LISBON – Friends of the Lisbon Center Cemetery will meet at the cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 6, to spruce up the grounds. Any lot owners or others interested in keeping the cemetery in good order are invited to help in clearing brush, straightening headstones and raking leaves.

Following the clean-up, there will be a business meeting at the MTM Center in Lisbon Falls at 3:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The meeting is open to all lot holders and others interested in the Lisbon Center Cemetery.

Library program

AUBURN – “MySpace: Mystery Solved” will be the topic of a session at 6 p.m. Monday, May 14, in the Auburn Public Library’s new computer lab.

Dollan Spence of the Auburn School System will be on hand to demonstrate the site and explain its pros and cons.

The class is open to all ages, but teens must be accompanied by an adult. Advance registration is required; to register or for more information, call the reference desk at 333-6640, ext. 4.

Parents workshop

AUBURN – The Maine Parent Federation, in collaboration with Advocates for Children, will provide a self-advocacy workshop for parents to learn new ways to gain confidence and be a spokesperson for their child.

Parents will learn how to communicate needs in educational, medical and social settings and gather new resources and information. Dinner and child care will be provided.

The session will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 14, at Washburn Elementary School, 35 Lake Auburn Ave. Registration is required. For more information, call Advocates for Children at 783-3990 or visit www.advocatesforchildren.net.

Benefit yard sale

GREENE – Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends will hold its annual yard sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 8 and 9, at 242 Sawyer Road, a mile from the railroad tracks.

The sale will include a wide variety of items and there will be a silent auction, which will include a quilt, remote control airplanes and a Mercury Cougar car. All proceeds will benefit homeless and abused animals.

Rain date will be June 15 and 16. To donate items, call 650-8374.

Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends is a nonprofit organization that depends solely on donations.

Seniors trips

LEWISTON – The Lewiston Senior Citizens still have openings for the following day trips:

There are three spots left for the North Shore Music Theater’s “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” on Wednesday, May 30.

There will be a trip to Maine State Music Theater, Brunswick, for “West Side Story” on Thursday, June 13; Carousel Music Theater, Boothbay on Tuesday, June 26; and Ogunquit Playhouse, “LaCage aux Folles,” on Thursday, July 12.

Registration set

MECHANIC FALLS – Children, who will be 5 years old on or before Oct. 15, 2007, are eligible to enter kindergarten in September. Registration/screening will be held Thursday and Friday, May 17 and 18.

Parents are requested to bring their child and their child’s birth certificate and immunization records with them on that day. Registration and screening will be by appointment only. Call the school at 345-3381 to make an appointment. Appointments can be made anytime.
