AUBURN – Mechanics Savings Bank is supporting local colleges and students with financial contributions to several scholarship funds. For many years the bank has provided funding for higher education scholarships as part of an ongoing commitment to the communities it serves.

For the second consecutive year, Mechanics Savings Bank donated $3,000 to the Bates College Androscoggin Scholarship Fund, an endowment established in 2004 to provide financial assistance to qualified Bates students from Lewiston, Auburn and surrounding communities in Androscoggin County.

Mechanics Savings Bank also contributed $3,000 to the Central Maine Community College Foundation, known as the CM Education Foundation, at Central Maine Community College. The foundation is a community-based, nonprofit corporation that raises money to support Central Maine Community College and its students.

USM Lewiston-Auburn College was presented with $3,000 for the Mechanics Savings Bank Scholarship, which is awarded annually to a qualified resident of Lewiston/Auburn who is enrolled in at least six credit hours at USM L/A.

In addition, Mechanics Savings Bank annually provides more than $30,000 to high schools across Maine with scholarships at varying levels. Applications are available at each high school’s guidance office.
