Club Richelieu
AUBURN – The local chapter of Club Richelieu International will hold its last seasonal monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, at Rolandeau’s Restaurant, Washington Street. Chapter President Daniel Isabel will be the speaker.
Grange program
AUBURN – Members of Danville Junction Grange will meet at the hall on Thursday, May 10. The program, which will begin at 7 p.m., will be on pet therapy. Speaker will be Barbara Hardison with her pet therapy dog, Sheltie.
A business meeting will be held following the program, during which several appreciation certificates will be awarded. Refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting. All members and guests are welcome.
OES to meet
AUBURN – Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of Eastern Star, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. The chapter will honor past matrons and patrons and Ellen Broas, deputy grand matron of District 4.
The meeting will be preceded at 6:15 p.m. by an American chop suey supper with strawberry shortcake for dessert. Donation are $3. All Eastern Star members are welcome.
Round table
BRUNSWICK – Tom Desjardin, author of “Stand Firm Ye Boys from Maine” and “These Honored Dead” and historian for the Maine Department of Conservation, will join Steve Bunker, a Civil War historian, in leading a group discussion about the causes and issues of the Civil War at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at Brunswick Junior High School cafeteria.

Grange program
NEW GLOUCESTER – Sabbathday Lake Grange will host a three-point meeting with Excelsior and Danville Junction Granges on Friday, May 11, with a 6:30 supper and meeting to follow at 7:30. The program will be presented by the visiting lecturers. Members of other granges are invited to attend.
Talk on Eucharist
LEWISTON – Sister Elizabeth Madden of the Blessed Sacrament Sisters is returning to the Lewiston area to continue her talks on “Eucharistic and Spirituality.” Her talk will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 12, at St. Joseph’s Parish, 253 Main St. Refreshments will be served at 10:30 a.m.
The goal of the talks is to assist with continued growth in spirituality and prayer by pointing to the source of Catholic life: The Eucharist. All are welcome. For more information, call Connie Cabatingan at 784-2180.
Dinner meeting
LEWISTON – Members of Twin City Council 160, United Commercial Travelers of America and Canada, will hold a dinner meeting at Marco’s Restaurant at 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 12. All members and guests are invited.
VFW clean-up
LISBON – VFW Post 9459, Route 196, will hold its yearly clean-up at 8 a.m. Sunday, May 13. Help is needed and volunteers who wish to assist are asked to bring buckets, rags, cleaning materials and rakes. For more information, call 353-5291 after 4 p.m. Wednesday to Friday.
Club 50 speaker
LEWISTON – Club 50 will sponsor a program on skin at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 17, in the Club 50 Room at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. It will be presented by Dr. Peter Bouman of Bates Mill Dermatology. Registration is required. Call 753-5467 by Wednesday, May 16.
Audubon walk
BRUNSWICK – Merrymeeting Audubon will host a walk in Portland’s Evergreen Cemetery to see a wide variety of songbirds at close range from 7 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 23. Those going should meet at 6:15 at Hannaford’s to car pool or meet at 7 a.m. at the ponds at the back Evergreen Cemetery, 672 Stevens Ave., Portland.
