EAST STONEHAM – The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War Tent 19 met at the Knights of Pythias Hall on April 25.

The session was called to order by Mary Jones in the absence of President Gail Butterfield. Department of Maine Patriotic Instructor Marilyn Jones presented a flag to Stoneham Fire Chief Albert Fox for the department.

Flags have been ordered for Memorial Day and they will be placed on the graves of veterans and DOV members.

Members will sell patriotic novelties in front of Pike’s Store in Norway during the Community Day celebration on Saturday, June 30. They will serve supper at the Stoneham Church vestry for Republicans in September.

The group hopes to have an open meeting in October and invite area historical societies to attend. The memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 20, at the Stoneham church. Members will meet Wednesday, May 23, at the KP Hall when a memorial program for departed members will be held. The state convention will be held in Waterville on June 22 and 23.
