LEWISTON – Post 22, American Legion, recently awarded Fernand Caux a 50-year certificate of recognition for continuous membership in the American Legion.

Caux was a member of the Maine National Guard when the group shipped to the South Pacific where the Lewiston group saw extensive action in New Guinea and Guadalcanal.

Caux joined the Maine National Guard in February 1940 and was discharged in August 1945. He was a member of Co. E, 103rd Infantry, 42nd Division.

He resides at 18 Brule St., Lewiston, along with his wife, Alma.
