NORWAY – The Western Foothills Land Trust will hold its 11th Bird-a-Thon at 7 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at the Bob and Mary Van Nest farm. Board members and others interested will set out to identify as many species as possible in a three-hour time frame.
They will follow their usual route on the hill, which includes a wide variety of habitats and yields an average of 47 species, including warblers and some unusual birds such as bobolinks.
The trust is asking for a donation of $15 a person, which includes refreshments after birding. The limit is 15, so interested individuals should call to reserve a space.
In the past people had the option of making a pledge to board members. The trust will accept a donation in that form in lieu of going on the walk.
The event will be held rain or shine. Call the Van Nests at 743-8104, or the trust office at 739-2124.
