Class luncheon
RUMFORD – Stephens High School Class of 1954 will hold a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. today at the Route 2 Diner (formerly Dino’s).

Society program
RUMFORD – The Rumford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. today in the Municipal Building conference room, Congress Street. The program will be “Pulpwood 101 – Hard Work 4 Feet Long,” presented by President Bill Weston, a certified tree farmer.
Election of officers will be held and plans will be finalized for the annual yard sale to be held at the Lufkin Museum in Rumford Center.
The museum will be open for touring on Saturday, June 2, and the sale will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone wanting to assist with the sale or to donate to the sale should contact Weston at 364-4007. The museum will be the drop-off point for items on Thursday, May 31.

Women to meet
RUMFORD – The women of Stephens High School Class of 1948 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at Sam’s. Call Beverly at 364-4085 if planning to attend.
Logging contests
DIXFIELD – The 31st annual state high school logger’s competition, hosted by Region 9, will be held at Mountain View Campground at 9 a.m. Thursday and Friday, May 17 and 18. Five forestry programs from all over the state will be there. The events will be free to the public.
Team fundraiser
RUMFORD – The Friends and Family Relay Team will hold a team fundraiser for Relay For Life, which is to take place on Friday and Saturday, May 18 and May 19, at the Hosmer Field Complex. Opening ceremonies will be held Friday at 5:30 p.m.
The fundraiser is a custom hand-made basket. The basket can be seen and ordered at Kaynor and Kreckel, Rumford Water District and Oxford Federal Credit Union or by calling Bette Thibeault at 364-7105 or Gloria Carrier at 364-7818.
All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. Baskets will also be available at relay, but will be in limited number.
Church supper
DIXFIELD – The Congregation Church (Church on the Hill) will have a public roast beef supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19. Cost will be adults, $8; children under 12, $3. The menu, served family-style, will include roast beef, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, green beans, cranberry sauce, homemade desserts and beverage. Take-out will be available.
Benefit dance
RUMFORD – There will be a benefit dance for the Children’s Miracle Network at the American Legion from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, May 19. Music will be by the Hooligans. Tickets, $5 each, may be purchased at the door or at Rite-Aid, Rumford. For more information, contact Yvette at 357-9192.
Flea market
MEXICO – The Mexico Congregational Church, United Church of Christ (UCC) will hold its first indoor/outdoor flea market on the front lawn and in the dining room basement at the Green Church from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 19.
People can rent a space outside and bring a table for $15 or rent a table inside for $20. Call Gail True at 562-4367 for more information.
