LEWISTON – Members of veterans’ organizations and the public are invited to attend services commemorating Armed Forces Day at noon Saturday, May 19, at the Veterans Memorial Park.
The program will open with singing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by the assembly. Douglas Taylor will give the invocation and Post 22 Adjutant Jerry DerBoghosian will read a proclamation.
The history of the U.S. Marines will be given by Past Commandant Roland Cyr of the Central Maine Marine Corps League. The names of Mainers lost in Iraq and Afghanistan will be read followed by “Taps” presented by bugler Richard LeBlanc.
The ceremony will close with the singing of “God Bless America” by the assembly.
