SABATTUS – Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District will sponsor a camp road workshop from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 14. The workshop will be held in two parts, the first part to be held at the Sabattus Town Hall, followed by a field session, which will include a training session for those interested in learning to operate a front runner grader/rake. Russ Lanoie will provide instructions.

Phil Curtis of Maine Local Roads Center will be on hand to talk about basic road building and maintenance of gravel roads. Colin Clark, Maine Department of Environmental Protection, will provide information on state regulations.

The charge for the workshop is $15 a person, and refreshments will be provided. Participants will receive a certificate of completion, and will be able to rent a front runner from the conservation district for use on their own gravel road. The workshop will qualify for contractor re-certification credits.
