FAIRFIELD – The White Sox, whose home in the Maine Men’s Senior Baseball League is Auburn’s Pettengill Park, rallied for 3 runs in the top of the 9th inning to edge the Fairfield Rockies 5-3 Sunday.

Trailing 3-2 in the ninth, the White Sox began their rally with 1 out. Mike Brennan stroked a double and moved to third on a ground out. He scored the tying run on a wild pitch. With 2 out, Mike Hlister walked and Don Plourde doubled him to third. The next batter, Mark Plourde, hit a dribbler to third and and was safe when the throw got away from the first baseman. Hlister and Don Plourde both scored to give the Sox a 5-3 lead.

Dan Coleman hurled the last 4 innings in relief of starter Steve Labossiere to pick up the victory. Randy Brodeur suffered the loss.

Earlier in the game, Don Plourde and Dan Coleman both ripped an RBI single. Don Plourde finished with 4 hits, including 2 doubles. Coleman collected 3 safeties and Brennan 2.

The Sox, now 2-0 on the season, will host Central Maine Green Wave next Sunday at Pettengill.
