AUBURN – The Central Maine Detachment, Marine Corps League, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at the New Auburn American Legion Post 153, 71 South Main St., New Auburn.

Plans for upcoming activities and meetings will be discussed. All members are requested to attend and bring ideas with them on building up the unit. A light snack will follow. Anyone interested in joining the league should call Ray Lemieux at 784-0656.

Seniors session

SABATTUS – Sabattus Senior Citizens will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 7, at the Our Lady of the Rosary Church hall after a meal at the Lewiston Mandarin Restaurant. The Knight of Columbus will be setting up Maxwell Hall, the usual meeting site, for a garage sale.

Trip changes

LEWISTON – The Lewiston Senior Citizens had to change the dates for the following trips: “West Side Story” has been changed from June 13 to June 14 and “La Cage aux Folles” is now on July 19 instead of July 12. LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Area Widows Fellowship will meet on Monday, June 4, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, School Street. The gathering will begin at 11:30 a.m. for fellowship followed by a potluck lunch. All interested widows in the area are invited.

Antique appraisals

NEW GLOUCESTER – The New Gloucester Public Library, 379 Intervale Road, will host a visit by the Thomaston Place Auction Galleries’ Mobile Appraisal Coach from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 13.

The event, called the “Traveling Antiques Appraisal Fair,” will feature onsite appraisals by Kaja Veilleux and John Bottero. There will be a suggested donation of $5 for each item appraised, and 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit the library, which plans to build the Bob Leighton Memorial Gazebo.

If items are too large to be transported to the coach, detailed photographs can be used to determine their approximate value. There are no appointments, and each person will have a chance to meet the appraiser on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call the library at 926-4840.

Vacation school

LEWISTON – United Baptist Church of 250 Main St will hold vacation Bible school for kindergarten to grade six from 9 a.m. to noon June 25 to 29. It is free. The theme will be “Sonforce Kids Special Agents by Gospel Light.” There will be games, Bible lessons, snacks and crafts. For more information, call 782-1981.

Bridge winners

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on May 22 at the Multi-Purpose Center. North/South winners were: first, Shirley West and Patricia Smith; second, Patricia Quinn and Georgette Jewell; third, Richard Allen and Jim Flanagan.

East/West winners were: first, Claire Lyons and Nancy Lindgren; second, David Lock and Patricia Garcia; third, Doug and Betty Sise. Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, at the center.

The club also met on May 23 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners were: first, Luke Merry and Paul Barber; second, Fred Letourneau and Rosemarie Goodwin; third, Patricia Quinn and Lucille Theriault.
