MacKinzie Kline, 15, who was born with a heart defect, a transverse liver and no spleen, will play in her first LPGA Tour event, the Ginn Tribute. Because of her medical condition, she can’t walk long distances without becoming fatigued, so the LPGA will allow Kline to use a cart as well as an oxygen delivery system when she needs it. Kline got the chance to play when she received an exemption from tournament host Annika Sorenstam. A round of applause is due to Sorenstam, the LPGA and the competitors who aren’t complaining about her having an unfair advantage.
