LEWISTON – The Franco-American Heritage Center will host the first Friday of the month gathering, called “La Rencontre,” at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 1.
TV5MONDE has been a major sponsor of the two-hour French-speaking event through an $800 monthly donation to help cover the costs.
Rita Dube, center executive director, said, “Thanks to the generosity of TV5MONDE, this is a very beneficial fundraising opportunity for us. We are proud to have them on our support team and we hope to continue the partnership far into the future.”
The program will feature “The Trio,” comprised of Lorraine Ouellette, Gerry Dube and Adrien LeClair. They will play typical French music and conduct sing-a-longs for the group of approximately 300.
Everyone is encouraged to speak only French. It is an opportunity for all French-speaking people to practice their native tongue.
The menu for June 1 will be chicken pot pie, rolls and dessert. The price for the meal and the entertainment is $6.50. Reservations must be made ahead of time by contacting the center at 783-1585. Everyone is welcome.
