NORWAY – June will bring a new reading program to Norway Memorial Library. The Norway Memorial Library Reading Challenge is a reading group for independent readers. There will be no book discussions, no title list and no deadline for finishing a title.
Participants will select books from a list of genres and will read 20 books in 12 months. By choosing books from a variety of genres, it is hoped that readers will find new books and authors that they might otherwise have not discovered.
Readers choosing to take the challenge will pick up a reading journal from the information desk at the library and begin reading. The reading journal includes a checklist of the 10 genres from which to choose. The journal also includes space to record the 20 titles and a brief note about each book read.
A blog has been set up for readers wanting to share reactions to books, recommendations or roasts. The blog may be found at www.norwayreadingchallenge.blogspot.com.
After reading 20 titles from the listed genres, journals will be taken to the library where it will be recorded that the reader has successfully completed the challenge. The readers will retain their journals. For more information, stop by the information desk at the library or call 743-5309.
