Dear Sun Spots: Could you please tell me if Vivian Bean is pregnant and when she is due? She is on WGME early mornings. To whom is she married? Thank you. – No Name, No Town.

Answer:
In addition to responses from readers, Sun Spots wonders if you’ve checked out the WGME Web site, which has a biography on Bean.

Sun Spots had the pleasure of corresponding with Bean who was happy to answer your questions, “besides,” she writes, “being almost six months pregnant, I can hardly be secretive about it anymore!”

It is the couple’s first child and they are expecting in late August. Bean says the pregnancy has gone very smoothly and both parents-to-be are very excited! Sun Spots wishes them all the best as she is sure column readers do too.

Bean is a native Mainer. She grew up in Brunswick, and later left to earn her B.A. in speech and communications at Macalester College in Minnesota. After graduation, she returned to Maine to start her career in journalism. She hosts Daybreak beginning at 4:55 a.m. Her work on the newscast earned the station top honors for morning news in a nationwide study by the Columbia Journalism Review. She also produces an ongoing series of reports on education called Learning Matters, which airs every Tuesday evening on Live at Five and every Wednesday morning on Daybreak.

When she’s not at work, Bean spends as much time as she can by the ocean with her husband and WGME news producer, Matt Curren, and their three Boston Terriers. The terriers are Orbit, Cosmo and Astro and are all about 6 years old.

Dear Sun Spots: I am looking for a store in the Lewiston/Auburn area or a catalog that sells slim fitting clothing for men. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am also looking for instructions on how to make a hat box or band box. I do not care if they are sewed, glued, cloth or wallpaper covered! Thank you very much. – Lorraine Dunham, Rangeley.

Dear Sun Spots: The Holy Trinity Parish in Lisbon Falls is seeking donations for our annual yard sale. We will also have tables to rent for those interested in selling their own items. The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, June 15, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 16, rain or shine at 67 Frost Hill Ave. Funds will help benefit the parish hall building loan.

We are seeking clean items in working condition. Final acceptance of items will be at the discretion of the committee. Unsold items have to be disposed of, oftentimes at our cost. Other items will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Items may be dropped off at the church on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 9 a.m. and noon. If these times are not convenient please phone Pat Tardiff at 353-5035.

Anyone interesting in helping the parish, or renting a table for $10 to sell their own items, should also phone Tardiff. The deadline to reserve a table is June 8. – Pat T., Lisbon Falls.

Dear Sun Spots: How could we survive in southern Maine without your column! It’s a daily must read. Thank you for such a great service to our community and geographical area.

Some time ago, I wrote asking for help finding someone to repair old stone walls. Your answer led me to masonry companies who, in turn, directed me to what I refer to as ‘The Master Stone Wall Guy’ in all of Maine, John Footer, to those seeking such assistance. He lives locally and may be reached at 786-0026. He’s been in this “artful” work for 30 years or so and knows his stuff! – Carol, Lewiston.
