Reading program
WILTON – The Wilton Free Public Library summer reading program will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at the Academy Hill School gym when Passamaquoddy storyteller and author of “Thanks to the Animals,” Allen Sockabasin will visit.
An introduction to archaeology by University of Maine at Farmington’s archaeology department will be presented at 1 p.m. Friday, June 29, at the library.
Kids’ reading
LIVERMORE FALLS – Treat Memorial Library, 56 Main St., has invited all children from infants to age 18 to register for the summer reading program, “Get a Clue @ Your Library.”
Children can register the week of June 19, sign a contract with the library and decide if they will record the titles of all the books they read or keep a record of the time they spend reading.
They will receive a log book to record their books or hours and pick up a calendar of the events being presented during the program. There will be mysteries to solve, guessing games, craft times and other activities. Everyone who completes their contract will be invited to a final party, with certificates, rewards and refreshments for all.
Everyone is welcome to join us for the six-week program, and parents may read to their younger children and fulfill their contract.

Summer clues
NEW SHARON – The New Sharon-Jim Ditzler Memorial Library will host a summer reading program where children will find clues, solve mysteries and puzzles and do other activities during the program, “Get a Clue @ Your Library.”
The program will be held on Thursdays, June 21, 28 and July 12, 19, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. For more information, call the library at 779-1128. All activities are free and everyone is welcome.
The library will hold a book sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 16. Paperback books will be 25 cents each or $3 a bag. Hardcover books will be 50 cents each or $6 a bag. Proceeds will be used to benefit the library programs.
Appreciation day
JAY – Bean’s Corner Baptist Church will pay tribute to the town of Jay with a “Jay Appreciation Day” on Saturday, June 16, at the church.
The event will begin at 2:30 p.m. and continue through the supper hour. Cenedl, a folk-pop band from Farmington will provide live music. Games will be organized for children and a cookout meal will be served.
Officials and workers from town departments have been invited, and the public is welcome,said the Rev. Ira A. Hall, church pastor. “This is one way we can say how much we appreciate the workers who provide so many services to us and the rest of the town,” Hall said.
The church is located at the intersection of Routes 156 and 133.
Yard sale
JAY – Friends Together Peer Support and Recovery Center will hold its annual yard sale fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 16 and 17, in the parking area of the center, 70 Main St. The center will accept donations (no clothes) until Thursday, June 14.
