Lawn, bake sale

Mexico – A summer lawn and bake sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at the UCC Green Church on Main Street.

Honors grads

MEXICO – The Congregational United Church of Christ (the Green Church) honored its graduates at a breakfast on Sunday morning. Those attending were Mountain Valley graduates Jessica Lyons and Matt Lyons and Kelly Hebert, a graduate of Dirigo High School. Unable to attend were Kristy Drouin, Amber Duguay and Meagan Swan, graduating from Mountain Valley; Kurtis Bucher, CMCC, and JJ Bohren, Penn State.

Youth Sunday was observed during the 10 a.m. worship service. Youth served as greeters and participated in the worship, including the primary Sunday school class singing “This Little Light of Mine” while carrying battery-operated candles and the young adults presenting the song “I Can Only Imagine” in sign language. Haeyan Park read the gospel lesson.

Society speaker

DIXFIELD – The Dixfield Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 14, in the charter meeting room of the museum, 63 Main St. “The Early Settlement of Maine,” featuring Moses Greenleaf, Maine’s first map-maker, will be the featured topic as presented by Professor Walter MacDougall of Milo and author of the book by the same title. Light refreshments will be served, and the public is invited. Note the time change for this meeting only.

Bottle drive

ANDOVER – A bottle drive will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 16, to benefit a youth missionary trip to Wales in the United Kingdom. Donations will be appreciated. For more information, call Twyla Dolloff at 392-1841.

Car wash

MEXICO – A car wash/bake sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at the Wal-Mart parking lot. Proceeds will help fund the Dirigo boys basketball team trip to Florida next December.

Yard sale

DIXFIELD – The Historical Society will sponsor a neighborhood yard sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at 63 Main St. To reserve a table with a $10 donation to the Dixfield Historical Society, contact Donna Towle at 562-7595 or visit the Corner Store.

Dads’ meal

RUMFORD – There will be a Father’s Day breakfast at the Rumford Lodge of Elks 862 on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 17, from 8 to 10 a.m. The menu will include scrambled eggs, hash browns, beans, sausage patties, toast, juice and coffee.
