The RIF Read-a-thon celebrated another successful year, and 97 students who raised more than $50 in pledges were invited to an ice cream social. The top readers and pledges in the district were recognized.
RIF Read-a-thon successful
PARIS – The Oxford Hills RIF Programs (Reading is Fundamental) celebrated another successful read-a-thon for SAD 17 students grades kindergarten through six by raising more than $10,000.
Ninety-seven students were invited for either raising $50 or more or being a top place reader in the district.
Top readers for grades kindergarten to three: first, Kendall Hill, Rowe; second, Caitlyn Lord, Oxford; third, Audrey Tucker, Oxford.
Top readers for grades four to six: first, Isabel Wolfe, Harrison; second, Jordan Millett, Oxford; third, Emily Fagan, Rowe.
Top pledges for grade kindergarten to three: first, Cameron Moore, Oxford; second, Caitlyn Lord, Oxford; third, Concetta Stewart, Otisfield.
Top pledges for grades four to six: first, India Lucas, Oxford; second, Christopher Whittemore, Rowe; third, Oriana Lovell, Waterford.

The RIF program provides free books for students in grades kindergarten to six districtwide (2,000 students) through a grant and participation in the read-a-thon.
Each school relies on volunteers to hand out books three times a year.
