HANOVER – Voters here will decide whether to raise about $400,000 for educating the town’s 40 to 45 students, and whether to adopt or amend several land use-related ordinances when they gather at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the old schoolhouse.

Town Clerk Clem Worcester said Friday that in six articles, voters will be asked to approve about $200,000 for regular, vocational and adult education. The remaining funds needed to pay for education will come from state aid or other sources.

The total for education for fiscal year 2007-2008 is up more than $50,000 from this year, largely because of less state aid and the low valuation of property in town.

Worcester said a total revaluation – the town is now at about 69 percent of fair market value – will likely take place next year.

Voters of this town of about 250 year-round residents and more during the summer, will also decide whether to raise $5,975 as the town’s share of $21,000 to update the comprehensive plan.

Worcester said a $15,975 grant from the State Planning Office, along with local funds, will be used to contract with the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments to assist the Comprehensive Plan Committee with the work.

Voters will also decide whether to adopt an updated floodplain ordinance as recommended by the state so that property owners may purchase flood insurance.

Another article seeks to amend the site plan ordinance to require site plan review of rental properties development projects.

A new ordinance, titled the Town of Hanover Driveway Entrance Permit Ordinance, will also be acted on. If passed, it would provide requirements for the construction of driveway entrances.

A public hearing on the 12 articles will be held at 5:30 p.m. Selectmen will meet at approximately 6:30 p.m.
