New Gloucester Board of Selectmen

Met: Monday, June 18

Issue: David Lunt was elected selectmen’s chairman and A. Wayne Cobb as vice chairman.

Issue: Selectmen are studying funding options to pay for building a fire station and reconstructing Woodman Road through bonding.

Scoop: Joseph P. Cuetara, senior vice president of the Capital Markets Division of Moors and Cabot Inc. of Boston, a banking and advisory group, presented a crash course on bonding that his brokerage firm provides.

Up next: Town Manager Rosemary Kulow will continue efforts to communicate with Cuetara’s firm and research other funding sources to help selectmen decide how to pay for the projects estimated at roughly $6 million.

Issue: Selectmen tabled approving a revision of the town planner’s job description and taking action to adopt a job description for a planning assistant until the full board is present.

Issue: Selectmen tabled taking action to issuing a letter of intent to a design-build team for a new fire station

Scoop: The board agreed it did not have sufficient information to review to make a decision and wanted the full board present. Selectwoman Lenora Conger was absent.

Issue: Selectmen made appointments to town boards and municipal employees.

A Planning Board vacancy was filled.

Up next: The Planning Board has a full complement of members giving it authority to hear applications again.
