RANGELEY – A Sandy River Plantation man suffered serious burns on his arm and hand after he tripped and fell into a camp fire on Cross Street, police Chief Phil Weymouth said.

Michael Granberg, 36, was raking coals when he tripped after helping a resident cut trees and burn them, the chief said. The incident was reported at 10:06 p.m. Saturday.

Granberg suffered third-degree burns on his left hand and arm, Weymouth said.

He was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington by a NorthStar Emergency Medical Services ambulance, then transferred to another hospital, Weymouth said.

Granberg was listed in satisfactory condition on Tuesday at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
