SOUTH PARIS – Each team’s ace recorded a win Sunday as Bessey Motors and New Auburn split an American Legion baseball doubleheader at the Gouin athletic complex.

Ben Goodall went the distance, striking out five and walking just one to lead Bessey to an 8-1 win over New Auburn in Game 1.

Ryan Yates belted a triple to key the Bessey offense, and Ryan Yates pounded out two hits in the win.

Brady Blackman had a triple for NAL in the loss.

In the nightcap, Blackman took the hill for New Auburn and held the Bessey hitters at bay in an 8-3 triumph. Blackman struck out 10 and walked one in the victory, his second of the summer.

Tyler Dorris smacked a home run for New Auburn, and Kyle Bussiere added a triple for NAL (3-1), and Kevin Smith had a pair of hits.

Bessey Motors fell to 3-2 with the loss in the nightcap. The same two teams will square off against each other Tuesday at Pettengil Park in Auburn.
