ORONO – The University of Maine men’s ice hockey team will host an Alumni Weekend from July 21-23. The event will be highlighted by a dinner honoring retiring assistant coach Grant Standbrook, an alumni game and a golf tournament.

Dinner will kick off the weekend on Saturday, July 21. Standbrook, an assistant coach and primary recruiter for the past 19 years, is stepping down from full-time coaching and will become a volunteer assistant. The dinner will be held at the Black Bear Inn, with social hour at 6 p.m. and the meal at 7:00. A limited number of tickets are available to the general public at $30 per person. Contact Karen Marsters in the hockey office at 581-1130 to make a reservation.

The alumni game will be Sunday, July 22 at 1 p.m. Admission is free.

On Monday, July 23, the alumni golf tourney will be played at Penobscot Valley Country Club. Registration begins at 7 a.m., with a shotgun start at 8:00. Dinner and a live auction will follow the golf at approximately 1 p.m. A limited number of spaces remain available for the tournament and may be reserved by calling 581-1057.
