BETHEL – Steve Abbott, chief of staff for U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, will be the speaker at the annual picnic of the Oxford County Republican Committee on Tuesday, July 10, on Stan Howe’s lawn at 18 Broad St. across from the Bethel Inn.
A 5:30 p.m. social hour will be followed by a 6:30 p.m. picnic dinner.
Abbott will provide insights into issues facing the U.S. Senate and Maine’s junior U. S. senator. There will also be a brief business meeting. The event is sponsored by the Bethel Republican Committee. Those attending are asked to bring a lawnchair if possible. All area Republicans are invited.
At the June 12 Oxford County Republican Committee monthly meeting in Andover, State Republican Chairman Mark Ellis was the featured speaker at the Andover First Congregational Church.
He provided a PowerPoint presentation on organizing on the local level and made a number of suggestions on strengthening town committees in order to keep them active and vital.
