NEW GLOUCESTER – Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, Route 26, will offer several events during August.

Participants will learn the method of seven-step chair caning at a workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18. The fee is $35 and materials are included. Preregistration is necessary.

Nature walks will be held on Saturday, Aug. 18. The guided walks will be held twice that day and participants will walk through the Shaker fields, forests, Loon’s Point and Aurelia’s Cascade. Fee is $5 for adults; $2, children; free, under age 6.

R and R Spinners will demonstrate their craft at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village.

Using apples from the Shaker orchards, children and adults will make apple garlands, pomanders and ornaments as well as cook apple treats at a workshop to be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Shaker Village. Fee is $30 for adults and $40 for an adult with child. Preregistration is required.
