BETHEL – Steve Grogan, a former star quarterback with the New England Patriots, will be tossing passes on the Telstar High School football field on Saturday, August 18 at noon as a fundraiser for the local Mahoosuc Youth Football Organization. He will be joined by Patriots’ alumni in a flag football game against local coaches.

There is no admission fee and those attending will have a chance to receive autographs following the contest.

Among the “old” Patriots participating will be John Smith, Pete Brock, Ed Ellis, Vernon Crawford, John Williams, Roland James, Robert Perryman and Steve King.

Dinner with the Patriots will take place at Sunday River, starting with a social hour at 5:30. Reservations are available by calling (207) 824-0524.

MV soccer to begin

RUMFORD – Practice for all boys and girls interested in playing soccer with the Mountain Valley Middle School team will begin on August 30, as follows: girls, 2:45-4:15 p.m.; Boys, 3-4:30 p.m. All athletes must have a physical and all necessary paper work turned into the offices of MV Middle School prior to practice times. Forms are available in the offices of MV Middle School and St. Anthanasius/St. John’s School.
