PORTLAND (AP) – A Skowhegan lawyer has been suspended from practice for five years for accepting money from a client and doing little, if anything, in return.

The Maine Supreme Judicial Court said Patricia Danisinka-Washburn accepted $14,000 to appeal the attempted murder and arson convictions of Floyd Burton Jr., but failed to meet court deadlines or oppose a motion that led to the dismissal of the appeal.

Danisinka-Washburn and her lawyer could not be reached by phone on Tuesday.
