Disc jockey Seth Larrabee of radio station WLOB, Portland, tonight completed 108 hours of continuous broadcasting – a feat which he claims is a New England record.
The 39-year-old radio announcer put on the music-and-word-athon in the window of a local store. He had been broadcasting four hours daily over WLOB, a daytime station, and spinning records over a store loudspeaker the rest of the time. Long playing records gave him just enough time to spring to a nearby hotel for a shower.
He said the previous record of 107 hours, 3 minutes and 45 seconds was held by Bill Verney of station WKBR, Manchester, N.H.
Larrabee started his continual entertainment at 10 a.m. last Monday. He left the microphone at 10 p.m. Friday.
