RUMFORD – The Oxford County Democratic Committee will convene a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21, at the Mountain Valley Middle School to respond to Gov. Baldacci’s declaration of a vacancy in House Legislative District 93.

House District 93 encompasses Mexico, Dixfield, Peru, Canton and Carthage. A special election to fill that vacancy will be held Nov. 6.

Registered Democrats from District 93 towns will gather to select a candidate in a caucus-style proceeding. Sen. Bruce Bryant will chair the meeting that will be conducted in accordance with rules of the Maine Democratic Party.

Individuals seeking the nomination will have the opportunity to address the attendees following their nomination and prior to a secret ballot vote.
