SEATTLE (AP) – Jered Weaver won for the fourth time in five decisions, Garret Anderson had four hits and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Seattle Mariners 8-2 Wednesday to complete a three-game sweep and open a five-game lead in the AL West.

Vladimir Guerrero homered and went 8-for-14 in the series as the Angels improved to 11-4 against Seattle this year and moved a season-high 25 games over .500.

Athletics 5, Blue Jays 4

OAKLAND, Calif. – Jack Hannahan hit a game-ending single with two outs in the 11th inning to help the Oakland Athletics snap a five-game losing streak with a 5-4 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday.

Hannahan’s big hit came after Huston Street blew a 4-2 lead in the ninth by allowing solo homers to Lyle Overbay and pinch-hitter Matt Stairs – the first time the closer has allowed two homers in an outing in his career.

Dodgers 10, Nationals 9

LOS ANGELES – Shea Hillenbrand hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning and a sacrifice fly in the 12th as the Los Angeles Dodgers rallied from a five-run deficit to beat the Washington Nationals 10-9 Wednesday and finish a three-game sweep.

James Loney drove in four runs for the Dodgers, who also got home runs from Russell Martin and Matt Kemp. Jeff Kent had four hits, including a leadoff single that started the winning rally.

Reds 8, Pirates 0

PITTSBURGH – Aaron Harang threw a two-hitter for his fourth career shutout, Ken Griffey, Jr. and Brandon Phillips homered and the Cincinnati Reds beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-0 on Wednesday night.

Alex Gonzalez and Javier Valentin had three hits and Phillips, Scott Hatteberg and Edwin Encarnacion each had two for Cincinnati, which had won six straight before getting swept in a doubleheader by the Pirates on Tuesday.

Rockies 8, Giants 0

SAN FRANCISCO – Jeff Francis pitched a six-hitter for his second career shutout, Garrett Atkins homered twice and the Colorado Rockies beat the San Francisco Giants 8-0 Wednesday to avoid a three-game sweep.

Francis (14-6) struck out three and walked one in his second career complete game. The other was a two-hit shutout against St. Louis on July 24 last year.

Indians 4, Twins 3

CLEVELAND – Johan Santana doesn’t frighten the Cleveland Indians at all.

Rookie Asdrubal Cabrera’s two-run homer and Victor Martinez’s solo shot in a four-run first helped C.C. Sabathia finally get win No. 15 as the first-place Indians won their fifth straight, 4-3 over the Twins on Wednesday night.

Braves 7, Marlins 4

MIAMI – Matt Diaz homered twice and the Atlanta Braves salvaged a win at the end of a disappointing trip Wednesday, beating Dontrelle Willis and the Florida Marlins 7-4.

Diaz’s two-run homer in the third inning bounced off the top of the scoreboard and back onto the field. Third-base umpire Doug Eddings signaled homer, putting Atlanta ahead to stay.

Phillies 3, Mets 2

PHILADELPHIA – The Mets’ Marlon Anderson was ruled out on a game-ending interference call at second base in the ninth inning, negating a possible tying run and giving the Philadelphia Phillies a 3-2 win over New York on Wednesday night.

The Mets had runners on the corners with one out against closer Brett Myers when pinch-hitter Shawn Green hit a slow roller to shortstop Jimmy Rollins, who shoveled the ball to Tadahito Iguchi at second.

Devil Rays 5, Orioles 4

BALTIMORE – Dioner Navarro singled in the tiebreaking run in the 12th inning, and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays took advantage of another meltdown by the Baltimore bullpen in handing the Orioles their eighth straight loss, 5-4 Wednesday night.
