Kudos to state workers who will quit their jobs because of union fees taken out of their weekly checks every week, without their permission. Tim Belcher, the executive director of the Maine State Employees Association, which is stealing a portion of the state employee paycheck every week, uses propaganda to try and curtail this exodus.

That is more of a reason for not having the union around. Belcher’s time could have been better spent by pushing to have every one of the fools in the Maine Legislature who supported that cowardly act to be voted out of office.

The Legislature’s action should not surprise anyone since there is a Democratic majority in both the House and the Senate – a majority that has led to irresponsible spending and legislation, as seen by budget deficits, just for one. Maine’s legislative Democrats have done no better than their federal counterparts in the U.S. Congress – they love to spend, find revenue anywhere and fail to plan. (Plan to fail).

It is now time to vote for a Republican majority, like never before. One that gives Maine people a whole lot more state fiscal responsibility and planning, and a stable government at the state level. Above all, people may finally see accountability in state government.

State worker Richard Valcourt put it best when he said, “I am looking for a harbor to drop my tea into.”

Well put, considering how the state Legislature is performing.
