LEWISTON – The Lisbon Street Getty Mart Senior Redskins opened its Football League for Youth (FLY) season Sunday with a 32-12 victory over the Steelers.

Stephen Hinkley and Kevin St. Pierre provided good rushing yardage as the Redskins pulled away after a sluggish first half. Letavian Sands, Casey Thurlow, St. Pierre and Hinkley all reached paydirt behind the blocking of John Goulet and Brent Freve. St. Pierre was also a defensive standout, including 2 interceptions, returning 1 for a TD. Also shining defensively were Derrick Peters, Sands, Thurlow and Eddie Denis.

Playing well for the Steelers were Jacob Kendall and Matt Wooten, Jr.

The Grimmel’s Gas-Up Junior Giants defeated Don Morin’s Photo Lions 20-6. Quintarian Brown scored on runs of 75- and 40-yards. Mitchell Bourisk also scored from 35-yards out. Gage Cote paced the Giants defensive effort. Sheon James scored the lone Lions TD on a 97-yard gallop, while A.C. Curry sparked the defense.

The Northeast Athletics Junior Redskins blanked the Steelers 21-0. Sabin Lavorgna, Dante Brooks and William Adams, Jr., each tallied a touchdown behind a solid defensive line.

The Senior Giants trimmed the Lions 20-6.
