BIDDEFORD – The first show of the 2007 season for marching bands, sponsored by the Maine Band Directors Association, was held at Biddeford High School’s Waterhouse Field on Sept. 15. Ten bands from central and southern Maine and New Hampshire participated.

Bands were evaluated and received star ratings in the six areas of drum major, color guard, percussion, visual, music, and general effect as well as receiving an overall rating.

Bands receiving an overall rating of one star were Edward Little, Lawrence, Marshwood and Sanford high schools. Lawrence and Sanford both received two stars for drum major.

Bands receiving an overall rating of two stars were Biddeford, Dover, Leavitt, Old Orchard Beach, South Portland and Westbrook.

The next show will be the 17th annual Twin Cities Marching Band Show to be held at Edward Little High School’s Walton Field on Saturday, Sept. 22. Other shows in the 2007 are scheduled at Wells High School on Saturday, Sept. 29; Lawrence High School in Fairfield on Saturday, Oct. 13; and South Portland High School on Saturday, Oct. 20. All shows begin at 6 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.
