EAST DIXFIELD – The descendants of Stillman and Carrie Morse Harlow met Aug. 12 at Rover’s Campground. The 38 members present gathered in the dining hall for a 1 p.m. potluck dinner. Prayer was given by President Norman Bryant.
After the dinner, the pool was opened, games and crafts were offered for the children, led by Melissa Lovely, and a business meeting was held. Family photos were taken by Richard Bryant. After the business meeting, hand-held GPS units were used for a geo-cashing scavenger hunt.
At the business meeting, births were recorded: Dominic Michael Harris, Dec. 11, 2006, to Hazel and Patrick Bryant and new granddaughter of Don Bryant and great-granddaughter of Richard and Jeannette Bryant; and Owen Michael Bryant, July 24, 2007, to Richard and Nicole Bryant, great-grandson of Jeannette and Richard F. Bryant and grandson of Donna Bryant.
One death recorded for the year was that of Tom Greely, Nov. 6, 2006, son of Clayton Greely and June Harlow Greely. The marriage of Pam Bryant and Almond Meader, June 26, was recorded.
Recognition was given to the following: Dominic Harris, 8 months, for being the youngest member present; Richard F. Bryant, second oldest male present; and Aline Bryant, second oldest female present. Traveling the furthest was Shari Ouellette, who drove from Augusta.
There was a tie for most generations present, with Norman and Natalie Bryant and Richard F. and Jeannette Bryant each having four generations at the reunion.
Tony and Betty Navarro exchanged new wedding bands and renewed their marriage vows in recognition of their 30th anniversary, choosing to do so at the family reunion in front of family members as a surprise.
Officers elected for 2007 were president, Norman Bryant; vice president, Raymond Bryant; secretary, Emily Nutt; treasurer, Kay Hamlin. Richard F. Bryant will be family photographer and Melissa Lovely will be in charge of children’s games.
The location for next year’s reunion has not yet been decided.
