AUBURN – Central Maine Community College President Scott Knapp announces the appointment of several area people to the faculty.
Michael Matzinger of Greene joins the faculty as a humanities instructor. A Texas native, he taught previously at Klamath Community College and Umpqua Community College in Oregon. He earned his bachelor of arts degree in English from Southwestern University, and a master of fine arts from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
Jessica Smith of Auburn is also a humanities instructor. She is a native of Chaffee, N.Y., and taught writing and literature classes at the University of Buffalo and Erie Community College in Buffalo. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in English from State University of New York in Fredonia, and a master of fine arts degree in fiction writing from Minnesota State University.
Eileen Steck of Bryant Pond joins the faculty as an early childhood education instructor. Previously she was an early childhood education program instructor at Oxford Hills Technical School. Steck holds a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and early childhood education from Austin Peay State University and a master of science degree in curriculum instruction from Walden University.
John Wallace of Greene is an instructor in math and science. He is a native of Maryland. Wallace served as a naval officer for 25 years and was a certified nuclear propulsion engineer. He was an adjunct instructor at CMCC the past five years. He holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the U.S. Navel Academy, a master’s degree in mathematics from San Diego State University and a master’s degree in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College.
Jonathan Young of Gray joins the faculty as an instructor in business administration and management. He has taught previously at CMCC and at Southern Wesleyan University, Webster University, and Tri-County Technical College. He earned his bachelor of arts degree from Bates College and a master of business administration degree from Plymouth State University. He is a certified management accountant and an accredited business accountant.
