Dear Sun Spots: I have a photograph of a young girl holding a tennis racquet, poised at the ready for an enthusiastic serve. It’s a beautiful, sunny day in midsummer of 1948. A young girl by the name of Loretta Hart is spending the summer with her grandparents at 3 Pleasant St. in Lewiston. Miss Hart grew up in the Lynn area, a small suburb north of Boston but always spent her summers with her grandparents in Lewiston. As a young girl, Loretta spent her time with her best friend, Patricia Minigell. Loretta and Patty were inseparable. They were dear friends through their childhood until they graduated high school in 1950. After that, time and tide cast them adrift from one another. Now, after almost 60 years, Patricia is trying to find Loretta again. Did Loretta Hart move to Lewiston and marry as Patty had thought? Did Loretta raise a family and make Lewiston her home? Most importantly, is Loretta still around? Does she perhaps, still recall her childhood friend Patty? My mother sure would like to know. Can you help me Sun Spots? If possible, please e-mail Patricia’s son, Joseph at [email protected]. Hoping to hear from column readers. – No Name, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: This is in response to the young person looking for Legos. The Teen Center has a thrift store in Norway. The entrance is across from Amatos. They have a nice assortment of goodies for young and old. You have to see it to believe it. – Been There Many Times, No Town.
