Lewiston – The start of the 2007-2008 school year for Trinity Catholic does not only bring about a new school year, but also new faces. Mr. Paul Yarnevich has been appointed principal for Trinity Catholic, replacing co-principals Bonnie Marsh and Donna Sawyer.
The past few months for Mr. Yarnevich and his family have been hectic. Until this July, he and his family lived in Phoenix, Arizona. He has a wife, Robyn, who is a native of Auburn, Maine. Together they have four children ages of six to thirteen.
For the past 14 years, he has had a wide background in education and school management. His major roles have been teaching Science, History and Math for 8 years, serving as Dean of Students at Seton Catholic High School in Chandler, Arizona, for two years, and working as Assistant Principal of Washington High School in Phoenix, Arizona for four years.
Over the past several years, the Yarnevich family has been spending their summers in Maine. He and his wife had been thinking of moving to Maine for some time, for reasons like being closer to family, and living in a smaller, tighter community.
When the Principal position at Trinity Catholic School opened, a family member from Maine called him and told them of the news. He and his family talked about the position and he applied for the job.
In early July, Mr. Yarnevich got the call, and was named Principal of Trinity Catholic School. Being the new principal at a recently consolidated school sponsored by three parishes was nothing new for him. Their Catholic school in Arizona was sponsored by four parishes. He immediately began a search for an assistant principal and later hired Mrs. Rebecca Belleau.
Mr. Yarnevich’s main challenges on changes and improvements for the school are that of establishing and enforcing new policies and procedures. When asked about how challenging it has been for him being in charge of two separate campuses, he replied by saying, “Keeping track of one campus is challenging enough. But it’s something I enjoy.”
Since he and his family have made the “big move” in July, they have yet to settle down. Life is the same, but far busier for them. His family is still searching for a new home but is enjoying their new community. He spends busy week days maintaining the school, while on the weekends he enjoys spending time being with and doing activities with his family.
