MACHIAS (AP) – A 27-year-old Baileyville woman with a long criminal history has been handed an 11-year prison sentence for holding a woman down and slashing her face with a beer bottle.

Melissa Manza was sentenced this week in Washington County Superior Court after she changed her plea of not guilty of aggravated assault to guilty.

The incident followed an early morning fight in March between two male guests at a home in Calais. Manza’s victim underwent surgery, where it took more than 100 stitches to close the wound.
