LEWISTON – “Know Menopause: Inside and Out” will be the topic of discussion at the Wednesday, Nov. 14, meeting of Red Hot Mamas, a nationwide support group dedicated to menopause management education.

Obstetrician-gynecologist Dr. Ingrid Carlson will discuss menopause, menopausal symptoms and management of menopausal symptoms, addressing such topics as how menopause is different for every woman, why all women should know their options and risks, understand what is happening to their bodies at menopause and understand how to talk with their healthcare providers.

Prior to beginning her practice with Central Maine Obstetrics-Gynecology in Lewiston, Carlson completed residency training through the Baystate Medical Center-Tufts University Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program in Springfield, Mass., where she was appointed a clinical associate.

She also served as a resident physician at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, Mich., and Detroit Medical Center-Hutzel Hospital in Detroit.

A graduate of the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks, N.D., she earned her medical degree at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in East Lansing, Mich. Prior to beginning her medical studies, she worked for 10 years in the healthcare field.
