WILTON – An early Tuesday afternoon crash left two vehicles in a large ditch in front of Dexter Supply and one driver facing charges.

Frederick Dougherty Jr., 26, of Phillips was arrested on charges of operating after license suspension and driving to endanger. Police said Dougherty attempted to pass a car driven by Bernard Pinkham, 62, of Strong.

Dougherty’s van crashed into the driver’s door sending both vehicles into the ditch, said police officer Blaine Rackliff.

Both vehicles were traveling east on Routes 2 and 4 when Pinkham, driving a 1999 Chrysler Concord, attempted to make the turn into Dexter Supply. Dougherty tried to pass him, Rackliff said.

Brandice Dotolo and four minor children were with Dougherty in a 1999 Chevy Venture van, he said.

Northstar Ambulance responded to the scene to assess injuries but no one was seriously hurt. Pinkham was treated for a headache, Rackliff said.

Wilton Fire Department and Sandy Burke from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
