Dear Sun Spots: I am responding to your writer who was sorry to no longer have access to pottery classes at Edward Little High School’s adult education program, (Sun Spots, Nov. 6). We are thrilled to let column readers and pottery fans know that a class will be offered this upcoming spring. The lack of the class for this past semester was temporary: Our teacher was on a temporary personal leave. Your writer and those interested should watch for our winter/spring brochure that should be released around the first week in January. Alternatively, anyone interested in these classes can please feel free to call the office at 784-9220, or check our Web site at www.auburnschl.edu. Click on “other services” then Adult Education.
We are very grateful for this type of feedback from your reader because it’s often difficult to tell what classes will be a hit within the community. It’s like the process of fishing: You throw the bait out and see who’s interested. Pottery, we know, will be of interest as are ballroom dancing and computer classes.
We are looking forward to meeting with new class members this upcoming semester. – Scott Gowell, director of Auburn Adult Education.
Dear Sun Spots: I am writing in regard to a video that was part of a collection that I had and cannot replace. I loaned it out to a friend. It was either lost or misplaced. The title is “The Merry Widow” with Jeannette MacDonald and Maurice Chevalier. Since so many people are letting go of their videos, I thought I would try you.
I am willing to pay a reasonable price for it. I would appreciate it if you please post this in your column and would be forever grateful if you could find a copy for me. I want one that has the cover featuring Jeannette MacDonald and Maurice Chevalier on it. In other words, not the one that was recorded from television. Thank you for giving this your attention. – Would Be Forever Grateful in Lewiston.
Answer: Sun Spots has located several used copies with the cover you describe online at www.amazon.com. They are available from $5.98 and up. You might also be interested in other MacDonald and Chevalier movies, also listed online at Amazon. If you do not have access to e-mail or a computer, you can reach Amazon.com via customer service at P.O. Box 81226, Seattle, WA 98108-1226, phone toll-free in the U.S. and Canada: 800-201-7575 or 866-216-1072.
Dear Sun Spots: The Sabattus Seniors are looking for a coat rack. An 8-foot with locking wheels, new or used would be perfect for us to use when we hold our meetings and dinners. It can be set up in the Maxwell Guild Hall.
If you know where we might be able to get one, please contact Stan Pelletier, president of the senior club, at 784-7950. Thank you. – No Name, No Town.
Dear Sun Spots: We lost all of our family photos and I am hoping there are readers and others out there who might either e-mail or post photos of myself and my brothers to me.
I was hoping for possibly yearbook entries since most people have them. What I am looking for is a photograph from 1975 of myself, Brenda Divver and my brothers James and Michael Divver from 1978.
If anyone can help, I would be grateful. I can be reached via e-mail at [email protected]. I can also be reached through regular post at P.O. Box 61, Sterling, VA 20164. Many thanks to anyone who can help out here! – Brenda, No Town.
Dear Sun Spots: Thank you for all the help you give us. I have two Tyco jigsaw puzzles. I know some people are looking for these as they don’t make them any more. I am willing to sell them for a reasonable price. If interested, please write to Sun Spots and leave your phone number and I will call you. – No Name, No Town.
Dear Sun Spots: I would like to chat with any readers who may have purchased an Eden Pure portable heater, like those advertised on the Paul Harvey show. I am wondering how those readers liked this product and how it worked. Please call me at 926-4807 to discuss this. Many thanks. – Rene Michaud, New Gloucester.
