1. Bonny Eagle 12-0 (Last week: 1)
Most of us were sure that three out of four equaled a dynasty when the Patriots did it. In the revolving-door world of high school football, it’s just as tough to pull off. Scots stand alone.
2. Lawrence 11-1 (2)
Easy to forget that flurry of one-win seasons earlier this decade. Back-to-back titles or not, Bulldogs have put one of Maine’s proudest programs back on the map.
3. Bangor 9-2 (3)
PTC is now 2-19 against the SMAA in Class A finals. Rams can boast one of the two.
4. Gardiner 11-1 (5)
Four coaches for the Class B champions were players the last time Tigers got it done in 1985.
5. Mountain Valley 10-2 (4)
Time to start talking about a possible state title defense for Owen Jones, Dean McCrillis and Justin Staires in basketball.
6. Marshwood 8-3 (6)
Giving up 49 points to Bonny Eagle looks pretty forgivable, now.
7. Thornton 8-2 (7)
Livermore Falls product Kevin Kezal has done a tremendous job bringing back a program that lost a step in the 1990s.
8. Lewiston 8-2 (8)
Blue Devils are probably sick of Bangor after four losses the last two years, three on the road. But at least they didn’t have to go to Lawrence this season.
9. Foxcroft 12-0 (9)
Football, field hockey state titles give Withee family reason to smile after much heartache.
10. Gorham 7-2 (-)
Rams wouldn’t want to owe Bonny Eagle anything, but they can thank the Scots for giving the other Western A contenders a little extra sparkle with that big win.
