EFFINGHAM, N.H. (AP) – A man who apparently got lost while taking a shortcut home through woods has been found dead.

A State Police dog found Darren Packard, 42, in a swamp on Monday. He had been missing for eight days.

Officials say there was no indication of foul play. Fish and Game Officer Brian Abrams said Packard was taking a shortcut through the woods and apparently died of exposure.
