DIXFIELD – Two teenagers and a father were arrested Saturday night as a result of a traffic stop because of a loud exhaust system.
Dixfield police Officer Eric Bernier said he stopped the 1999 Ford pickup truck driven by A. Scotty Couture, 19, of Third Street, Dixfield, andw owned by Kermit Houghton of Carthage, as Couture was driving along Weld Street at 9:50 p.m.
The Police Department has been making a special attempt to warn or ticket drivers who speed or cause unnecessary noise near or in the downtown area.
When a background check was done on Couture, Bernier discovered he was wanted on charges of violation of protection from abuse order and violation of bail conditions. He was arrested.
Couture’s passenger, Dustin Towers, 19, of Jay, was also arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and violating conditions of release.
Towers called his father, Edward Towers, 42, Dixfield, to pick up the truck. Bernier also learned that the elder Towers also had an outstanding warrant for arrest. He was taken into custody on an Oxford County Superior Court warrant charging aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, and two counts of criminal forfeiture and one of violation of bail conditions.
