AUBURN – The New Auburn American Legion Post 153-sponsored Boy Scout Troop visited the Briggs Cemetery on Turner Street on Nov. 11 to replace the flags on veterans’ graves.

The cemetery was chosen by Boy Scout Daniel Poulin as his Eagle Scout project. Recently Murphy R.E. and Son Monuments, Scout representatives and Norman Rose repaired more than 80 percent of the monuments and stones.

Scoutmaster Ronald Poulin, father of Daniel, and Assistant Scoutmaster Dan Trouant and other Scouts have been assisting. Fallen graves have been leveled and brush and leaves cleared. Poulin and his troop will continue the work until snow flies.

In December they will make some 200 Christmas gifts for the veterans at Togus and for nursing homes when they carol during the holidays.
